While I was taking my photography class at SPSCC, the instructor would e-mail us an “assignment” for the weekend, she called it the “long shot”.  Our assignment was to capture the spirit of the Independence Day weekend.  I took some fireworks shots (there is a display at the marina right by my house), I took some shots of my barbecue, but my favorite ended up being this self-taken shot of me mowing my lawn.  I set the camera up on a tripod, used the timer feature, and then ran out to the mower and used a long enough shutter speed to show a little bit of motion.  Sounds easy, but it took a few attempts to get it “right”.  I also enhanced the colors in Photoshop to give it a dramatic look.  It’s not art, but it was fun to do!
