Photo Shoot with Kim V and Tara Babcock

This was a great photo shoot at a studio in Puyallup which unfortunately is no longer open at that location. This was a “two-fer” with a photography session with both Tara Babcock and Kim V. Tara is a bit of an internet celebrity in both the gaming and modeling worlds. She’s very down to earth, professional, fun, and great to work with. Kim is a local model that’s heavily involved in the import car community. For Kim’s session, we had the help of Moxie Glam makeup (who I HIGHLY recommend). We did some swimsuit and beauty shots and experimented with a couple of makeup looks. Tara does her own hair and makeup and always shows up ready to shoot and be creative. For Tara’s set, we did some Christmas themed shots, some lingerie, and a tease set with Apple products for the Macenstein website. Tara was the “Mac Chick of the Month”.

Paper Doll Maternity Photography

I had the opportunity to work with Paper Doll (Courtney) again and this time she was expecting. Most of the photography session was figure studies. It was a wonderful opportunity to capture a mother to be at a special time in her life and work with the studio lighting to emphasize her best features. It was a fun shoot and I highly recommend Courtney as a model if she’s ever in your area.

Shaun Tia – Wet and Hot

The titillating title of this post really has more to do with the location and the weather than the content of the shoot.  This was a couples shoot at Frye Cove Park in Olympia.  The models wanted to do something in water and this is a fairly secluded area where we could take photographs without too much disruption.  This was my first time testing out the Paul C. Buff Vagabond Mini battery pack.  I brought one of my Alien Bees B800 studio lights (this is where the hot part comes in) carrying it, the battery pack, sandbags, etc. down the trail to the beach.  The models helped, but I worked up quite a sweat, not to mention carrying everything back up the hill.  I attached my Silver High Output beauty dish and put the light near the shoreline, which was a little disconcerting as the tide was rising, so I had to keep an eye on it throughout the shoot.  The sun made a fantastic backlight and we were able to get some nice shots that day.

My blog will focus on the "behind the scenes" aspects of photography, my thoughts and beliefs about photography, a chronicle of my shoots, and discussions about equipment and personal projects I'm working on. I hope this becomes an interactive page and look forward to your feedback.
